Material selection starts with the product construction

Green Side works with technical woven fabrics, knits, nonwovens, laminates and insulation. For a manufacturer, these are not interchangeable labels: each material has a different role in the finished product. An outer fabric forms the surface and takes the demands of use. A laminate combines multiple layers into a defined assembly. Insulation provides the thermal layer. Selection should therefore start with the product’s purpose, conditions of use and production process, not only a category name.

Fabric, laminate or insulation: what to define

For an outer material, specify the required composition, surface weight, width, colour, flex behaviour and finish. For a laminated assembly, describe every layer, its function, elasticity, joining method and downstream processing. For insulation, provide thickness, acceptable package weight, lining, outer layer, season and expected user activity. Thermal comfort depends on the entire finished construction, so insulation weight alone is not a temperature rating.

Check the data and a sample before production

Include an article number or marking when known, together with your critical parameters. Ask for the specification and available documents for the exact item. Before serial production, consider checking a sample in your own construction: cutting, sewing, seam sealing or another joining process, compatibility with adjacent layers, and behaviour after the intended treatment. Describe the product type, the function of each layer, use conditions, target parameters, cutting and joining method, colour, required quantity and timing.
